This site has been preserved for archival purposes only and the ability to make new accounts or posts has been turned off. Why does Netduino need pullups while the Arduino does not?

My test code is as follows — it attempts to read from the temperature register which should be nonzero. Remember me This is not recommended for shared computers.

Sorry for my english! The Netduino forums have been replaced by new forums at community. Posted 24 December – I have also tried writing a byte to the SRAM and reading the same address to no avail: Posted 25 December – The datasheet for this chip is located here: Please log in to reply.

I2C Read Problem with DS RTC – Netduino Plus 2 (and Netduino Plus 1) – Netduino Forums

Also, it is not really suitable for the microcontroller to have specific pull-up resistor value, because it depends on bus parameters, such as speed, capacitance etc.

Does the Netduino follow a different protocol for sending a write and then a read transaction? Will it resend a start bit? I’m not sure what the difference is between the following Arduino code and es3232sn code posted above — could anyone enlighten me why Datashret is working and Netduino not-so-much?

I have been successful with I2C in the past, and I rs3232sn that the “writes” I’m doing to the module work since my WriteTransactions return a nonzero value. Sign in anonymously Don’t add me to the active users list. Posted 23 December – I’ve forgotten my password.

I2C Read Problem with DS3232 RTC

Community Forum Software by IP. I added pull-ups and sure enough, I’m getting my treasured values I feel like a fool, but at least it’s working now. Thank you so much for responding. I have tried reading by explicitly creating Transactions and also by using the MultiI2C library in the Netduino Toolbox.
